Fiona is a Senior Lecturer in Evidence Synthesis at Newcastle University, UK. She co-founded and serves as an editor for the Children and Young People’s Wellbeing Coordinating Group within the Campbell Collaboration. Additionally, she co-chairs a methods group dedicated to advancing methodologies in mapping and evidence gap map review approaches. Fiona has conducted a diverse range of reviews to support policy-making, collaborating with organisations such as NICE, NIHR, WHO, and UNICEF. She is passionate about building capacity in evidence synthesis, leading postgraduate courses and professional development programs. Fiona has delivered training globally, tailoring her approach to meet the unique learning needs of individuals, with the aim of enhancing the use and conduct of evidence to drive positive changes in practice and policy. Solange is a Senior scientist in the Health Systems Research Unit at the South African Medical Research Council, Cape Town, South Africa. She is also the co-Director of Cochrane Nutrition and Cochrane Africa. She’s currently pursuing her PhD in Public Health at Stellenbosch University. Solange’s work focuses on conducting various types of evidence synthesis that address priority issues in response to decisionmaker needs to support evidence-informed decision-making. She works with the National Department of Health supporting methods and processes for decisionmaking, producing reviews, and building capacity in EIDM for national health insurance. She has supported WHO guideline development as a systematic reviewer and a member of guideline development groups. She supports Cochrane review production as a sign-off editor. She conducts evidence synthesis of complex public health questions, such as food security and school food and nutrition policies, and is involved in methodological work related to evidence syntheses conduct and reporting, and is leading work on a core outcome set for effectiveness research on food security. Her work also focuses on building capacity to do and use reviews to inform healthcare decision-making in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. Her special interests include evidence-based health care, evidence synthesis, public health nutrition, food insecurity and their intersection with the social determinants of health. |
